3rd Annual Mother Earth Market

09.19.23

For the third consecutive year, Anaheim's historic Packing District will host the Mother Earth Market (MEM), an event centered around mindfulness and eco-consciousness. This full-day affair, brimming with free activities and environmentally friendly vendors, is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will unfold along the shaded boardwalk and green spaces at Farmers Park in Anaheim.

SEED People’s Market, a co-op-style shop located at OC’s original “green” retail campus, The CAMP in Costa Mesa, is joining hands to co-host this year's event. The day will kick off with complimentary community yoga at 10 a.m., led by the world-renowned yogi, Kumi Yogini. Following this, the eco-village will open its doors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., showcasing a thoughtfully curated array of "products with purpose" from over 20 brands. These include Indo Sole’s casual footwear crafted from upcycled tires, Utu’s eco-friendly skincare, and Generous Herbs’ native seeds.

Attendees are encouraged to enhance their fall fashion collections by bringing up to 10 pieces of clothing to swap. This year, a new addition to the event is Black Vintage Vinyl’s record trading post, where guests can participate in a leave-a-record, take-a-record exchange. In addition to these activities, there will be two Green Bird Anaheim neighborhood cleanups at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., accompanied by the beats of Packing District’s resident DJ, Crisanto Santa Ana, and the reggae tunes of Long Beach singer, Ms. B. Royal.

Educational sessions on sustainability are an integral part of the event. Hikerkind will present on the "7 principles outlined by the National Park Service" at 11:30 a.m., and Eco Now will share tips on achieving a zero-waste lifestyle at 1:45 p.m. Thea Pauley, founder of Eco Now and co-creator of MEM, emphasizes that Mother Earth Market is not just a shopping event but a way of life, providing a platform to learn about sustainable resources, meet the individuals driving these initiatives, and enhance eco-friendly skills.

For those interested in registering for workshops and classes, the Mother Earth Market website, anaheimpackingdistrict.com, is the place to go.

Farmers Park is conveniently located at 412 S. Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim.
